      Hmm, I’d choose between either moving cells around with just light (a technique called ‘optical tweezers’) or smashing a wine glass with sound. The wine glass one was really fun as I did it as part of an outreach program with kids, so it was fun to see their reactions!

      One summer I was lucky enough to get a place on a integrative Pharmacology and Physiology course with the Royal Physiology Society. The week was full of interactive and hands on experiments including in vivo ones. One experiment allowed us to look at the effect of adrenaline on a real heart and the effect on heart rate.

      I once got to make up a load of chemicals that changed colour at particular times – we timed it so they all changed colour in time to music. That was good fun.
