I am currently doing my PhD at the University of Nottingham in physics. I am from Nottingham so I live at home with my family. It is a lot cheaper than living out. I am a fan of Doctor Who and Star Wars. I enjoy trying out new activities at university for example mixed martial arts, motorsport and Nerf.

The amount of iron in the brain increases with age and is linked to diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. The aim of my project is to determine the amount of iron in healthy brains which would then allow us to assess the effectiveness of Alzheimer’s/ Parkinson’s drugs.

My Typical Day:
There is no typical day apart from working about 9-5 and then taking part in societies around university.

My days can be very varied. They mostly consist of taking MRI scans and processing these. I make and run simulations. I also work on building pieces of equipment to assist with the scanning or just trying new ideas.
