There are millions and millions of them.

A lot of diseases are curable by broad-spectrum antibiotics like amoxicillin, so there are probably some diseases that we don’t even know about tha twe can still cure. The problem is that if we use those antibiotics too much, the bacteria evolve and build up resistance to them, so we have to find new drugs.

As Greg said, there are lots and lots of curable diseases, a lot of the time with antibiotics. This is why it is important for doctors to not over prescribe antibiotics, only when they are really needed.

As Greg and Paul said there is many of them. A lot of the research concentrates on those diseases we have yet to currently find a cure for.

      Thousands?
Sadly there are many people in the world that suffer and die from treatable diseases. Healthcare is not fairly available around the world. Having lived in USA I appreciate the NHS even more – we are so lucky in the UK.
