One day, you’ll find out that it’s very cheeky to ask people what they earn! 😛

NHS pay scales are set by Agenda for Change:
      http://www.nhsemployers.org/~/media/Employers/Documents/Pay%20and%20reward/AfC%20pay%20bands%20from%201%20April%202015.pdf
In my department most people are Band 6, 7, or 8A which ranges over 26-47,000 pounds per year.
I am a Band 7 and work part-time (50%). I like that I can earn a reasonable part-time wage, use my training and still look after my kids.
Private hospital and private companies pay more but the NHS offers good conditions and job security.

Jen has pretty much explained the banding pay within the NHS.
I am currently on a trainee salary which will increase once I am fully qualified 🙂

As a PhD student, we technically aren’t working so we don’t get a salary. We do however get an amount per month to cover our living expenses.
