I don’t think I have done one stand out experiment but discovering and learning new things in science is always exciting. I am currently completing a research project with patients with end stage kidney disease and hopefully this will show some exciting results.

When I was doing my PhD, the final data was gathered in one experiment near the end. I was looking at how your body absorbed radiation, and I’d spent years trying to make my experiment work. Finally it did work, so suddenly I had to get all my friends to sign up to be tested. I had people coming to the lab all day every day for a week, and at the end of the week, I was totally knackered and I had a big pile of data that needed processing. The really satisfying thing though was that unlike a week before, I suddenly had the answers to the questions been asking for years, and I had enough data to publish papers and finish my PhD. That was a big relief.

I am not sure I have done anything ground-breaking (yet!), but working in medical research there is always the hope that you will come up with an idea or invention that will have a really big impact!

I haven’t really done anything ground breaking yet but scanning post-mortem brains was pretty exciting.
