      I suppose a dream discovery would be a cure for cancer, but cancer is a very complicated disease and there is unlikely to be a single cure for it, so many different approaches are needed.

      My answer is the same as Paul’s. It would be great to see a cure for cancer but as Paul said there will never be just one cure. Even just discovering a cure for one form of cancer would be amazing.

      I’d like to discover a theory of everything, i.e. an overarching theory that links relativity and quantum theory, but that’s not going to happen as I’m in the wrong specialism, so I’ll stick with getting my current project working: a new imaging modality that can detect cancer early and so save lives.

      Oh @Jen, we already have one of those: it’s called the bicycle!
